Two Hundred Forty-First Anniversary of the Society

Well another year is passing and we are fast approaching the holidays. A time of year when we are given the opportunity to spend time with family and to be thankful. In that spirit, I hope we can gather, enjoy each other&apos;s company, be &quot;friendly&quot; and enjoy some excellent Irish entertainment at the next stated meeting of the Society of the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick in the City of New York which&#xc3;&#x82;&#xc2;&#xa0;will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the New York Athletic Club, located at 180 Central Park South. Members are welcome to bring guests to this meeting; the guest fee is $150. The reception will run from 6pm until 8.30pm and business attire is required. We will enjoy several carving stations and open bar service throughout the event. We are delighted to announce that the talented musician Cillian Vallely, along with other musicians will join us for&#xc3;&#x82;&#xc2;&#xa0;a fun ensemble of festive Irish/holiday music. Tables will be set and we encourage members and guests to visit the carving stations and sit so we can enjoy the entertainment. Please RSVP below. Society members who RSVP by November 22, 2024 will be entered into a raffle for two tickets to The Public Theater&apos;s Summer 2025 Shakespeare in the Park performance of Twelfth Night at the newly renovated Delacorte Theater. In addition to receiving various committee reports, the Admissions Committee will be meeting to consider applications. The Admissions Committee report can be viewed below. The Women&apos;s Committee annual Luncheon in support of our Scholarship Program will take place at noon on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at The Colony Club and will feature remarks by Jamie MacGuire, Renowned Author and Raconteur of the Irish American Experience.

The Women's Committee Luncheon in support of our Scholarship Program

Dear Members of the Society, I am delighted to announce the Society will hold a cultural event at the Irish Arts Center located at 553 West 51st Street on Tuesday October 8, 2024. The reception will take place in the Devlin Cafe with drinks and passed hors d&apos;oeuvres at 6pm followed by an introduction by the Executive Director of the Irish Arts Center, Aidan Connolly who will share the history and journey of the Irish Arts Center. The evening will conclude with entertainment in the theatre from Liz Hanley, Eamon O&apos;Leary and Jefferson Hamer. Liz, Eamon, and Jefferson are staples of the New York folk communities, and perform traditional tunes alongside original songs. They recently sold out a pair of concerts at the Irish Arts Center. Tickets are $125. Net proceeds will be donated to the Irish Arts Center. Please RSVP above. Because of limited space, we will reserve tickets for members until September 12th, before opening up tickets to guests. The reception will run from 6pm until 8pm. We will enjoy several carving stations and open bar service throughout the event. Please RSVP below. The June meeting is when the election of Trustees and Officers of the Society will take place. Due to the election, this meeting is for members only,&#xc2;&#xa0;guests are not permitted to attend. &#xc2;&#xa0;In addition to receiving various committee reports, the Admissions Committee will be meeting to consider applications. The nominating committee has convened and proposed a slate of officers and board of trustees for this year. Please take a moment to kindly RSVP.
